Adventures in London

ON MISCELLANEOUS THEATRE ISSUES - by G.L. Horton

Here I am, catching up email in a London cybercafe. We're staying in a cheap hotel with the WC way way down the hall and calorific but bland and indigestable breakfast, cramming Culture all day.

I've seen everything at the National Theatre, -- all good, bless it--- and noon concerts at St. Martins and the permanent collections in major museums, all free, bless them. Expect to shell out $$$ for El Greco (childhood fave) and The PreRaphaelites. Not very good, most of those PR Brothers, but I love them-- as much for their flaws and willful silliness as their talent and idealism. Maybe a play there someday? Doing visual research for my S. Centlivre play in galleries.

Hope to see Jodi's play tonight, if I can figure out the transport. My family gentlemen plan to get 1/2 price tickets to We Will Rock You. Neither bribe nor threat would get me to accompany them. Saw Skin of Our Teeth at the Young Vic last night. It really IS young! Crammed with 20's and unders! (3/16/04)
