Rapping People on the Knuckles

ON WRITING & DIRECTING - by G.L. Horton (7/11/99)

I expect this also is a waste of time and space, but when I was scolded for posting a freshly written unpublished stand-alone monologue in response to a specific request, also offering it freely to any listmember who might be interested in performing it, the rejection was one of the most painful I've ever had as writer/performer. To be told my work's not worth the nanosecond it takes to delete it! Thanks for the reality check?

Thanks, gentlemen, for the encouraging words. I've actually been feeling a bit chipper about the acceptance/rejection rate on my writing, lately. I just read "Wit". If that script can float around rejected 100's of times over six years.... I shouldn't complain. But I think the Prof does need to hear from time to time that rapping people on the knuckles with his ruler HURTS, and "You are only allowed to share what I am willing to pay for" isn't a very friendly attitude. I liked ACTING-L. I was happy to pay a pittance towards it, sorry to see it go down in flames.
